What is the diameter (in cm) of a sphere of surface area 154 sq cm?

Solution:

Let the radius of sphere = r cm
Surface area of sphere =

4πr^2

154 = 4 ×22/7×r^2

⇒

r^2={154×7}/{4×22}

⇒

r=7/2=3.5

cm
∴ Diameter of sphere = 2r
= 2 × 3 .5 = 7cm
