A person invested a total sum of ₹ 7900 in three different schemes of simple interest at 3%, 5% and 8% per annum. At the end of oneyear he got same interest in allthree schemes. What is the money(in ₹) invested at 3% ?

Solution:

Let the money invested at 3%, 5% and 8% be x, y and z, respectively.
According to the question,

{x×3×1}/100={y×5×1}/100={z×8×1}/100

3 x = 5 y = 8z

x : y :z =1/3:1/5:1/8

x:y:z = 4 0 :2 4 :1 5

The money invested at 3%

= 7900 ×40/(40 + 24 + 15)

= ₹ 4000
