Solution:

According to the question.
Total surface area of sphere

= 4πr^2

Total surface area of hemisphere

= 3πr^2

The increase in the total surface area

=2× 3 πr^2 - 4πr^2

=6πr^2-4πr^2

=2πr^2=2× 22/7× (17.5/2)^2

=481.25 \cm^2
