'Sea of Poppies' is a novel by Indian novelist Amitav Ghosh. It is the first volume of the lbis trilogy. The book was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2008. The book is based on a bunch of sailors, convicts and coolies who are sailing down the Hooghly on their way to Mauritius aboard the lbis.
