India's first lithium refinery which will process lithium ore to produce battery-grade material will be set-up in Gujarat. Manikaran Power Limited, one of the country's largest power trading and renewable energy company will invest around ₹ 1000 crore to set-up this refinery.
Lithium-ion batteries are small, rechargeable and powerful batteries which can store large amounts of energy from solar and wind power and now used in everything from mobile phones to laptops and even electric cars.
