Solution:

According to the question,

m :n = 2 :3

y -co-ordinate of point

A=({m y_{2}+n y_{1}}/{m+n} )

⇒

1= {2×y+3 ×(-3)}/{2+3}

⇒

5=2 y-9

⇒

5+9=2 y

⇒

14=2 y ∴ y=7
