36 is divided into parts such that 5 times the first part added to 3 times the second part makes 142 . The two parts are :-

10 and 26
12 and 24
15 and 21
17 and 19

Solution:

(d) Suppose that the first part

=n

Then, second part

=36-n

ATQ,

5n+3(36-n) = 142

5n+108-3n = 142

2n = 34

n = 17

∴ First part

=n=17

And second part

=36-n = 36-17 = 19

.
