The sum of four numbers is 64. If you add 3 to the first number, 3 is subtracted from the second number, the third is multiplied by 3 and the fourth is divided by 3, then all results obtained are equal. What is the difference between the largest and the smallest of the original number?

Solution:

a+b+c+d=64

.......(i)
because,

a+3=b-3=3 c=\;{d}/{3}

b=a+6, c=\;{a}/{3}+1, d=3 a+9

put these value in equation (i)

a+a+6+\;{a}/{3}+1+3 a+9=64

a=9

d-c=32
