Slant height & height of a cone in equal to length and breadth of a rectangle respectively. If breadth of rectangle is 9 cm less than length of rectangle and perimeter of rectangle is 98 cm, then find thickness of 25 discs kept one above another in a cylindrical vessel, which radius & height is half of radius of cone and equal to height of cone respectively(let radius of discs equal to radius of cylindrical vessel)?

Solution:

Let slant height & height of cone be l & h respectively And, length & breadth of rectangle be L & B respectively
ATQ
L = l & h = B

2(B + 9 + B) = 98

2B + 9 = 49

B = 20 cm = h

L = l = 20 + 9 = 29

Radius of cone

=√{29^{2}-20^{2}}

=√{841-400}

=21

Radius of cylindrical vessel

=\;{21}/{2}=10.5 {cm}

Height of cylindrical vessel = 20 cm
Volume of cylindrical vessel

=\;{22}/{7} × 10.5 × 10.5 × 20

=6930cm^3

Let thickness of discs be

x

\;{22}/{7} × 10.5 × 10.5 × x × 25=6930

x=0.8 {cm}
