In a 100 m race, Kamal defeats Bimal by 5 seconds. If the speed of Kamal is 18 km/ hr, then the speed of Bimal is–

Solution:

(3) Speed of Kamal = 18 km/h

= 18 ×5/18m/sec. = 5 m/sec.

Let speed of Vimal = x km/h.∴By question,

5 +{100m}/{5m/sec}={100m}/{x m/ sec}

⇒ 5 + 20 =100/x⇒ 25 =100/x

∴ x =100/25= 4 m/sec

= 4 ×18/5km/h = 14.4 km/h
