Annual incomes of Amit and Veeri are in the ratio 3 : 2, while the ratio of their expenditures is 5 : 3. If at the end of the year each saves Rs 1,000, the annual income of Amit is:

Validate

Solution:

Annual income of Amit and Veeri share = 3x : 2x
Ratio of their expenditure = 5y : 3y
Money share by each at the end of the year = Rs 1,000
According to the statement,
3x - 5y = 1,000 ......(i)
2x - 3y = 1,000 ......(ii)
Multiplying equation (i) with 3 and (ii) with 5 and adding we get,

x=2000

Annual income of Amit = 3 x = 3 × 2,000 = Rs 6,000
