There is a ratio of 5 : 4 between two numbers.If 40 per cent of the first is 12, then 50% ofthe second number is:

Solution:

The ratio between two numbers = 5x : 4x
If 40% of 5x = 12,

40/100×5x=12

2x=12

x=6

So, the first number 5x

= 5× 6 =30

Second number 4x

=4×6=24

50% of second number = 24.

50/100×24=1/2×24=12
