Let the four whole numbers x, y, z, p.
According to the statement,$\mathit{x}+\mathit{y}+\mathit{z}=180$
$\mathit{y}+\mathit{z}+\mathit{p}=197$
$\mathit{x}+\mathit{z}+\mathit{p}=208$
$\mathit{x}+\mathit{y}+\mathit{p}=222$
Adding these equations, we get,
$3\mathit{x}+3\mathit{y}+3\mathit{z}+3\mathit{p}=807$
$\mathit{x}+\mathit{y}+\mathit{z}+\mathit{p}=269$ ......(i)
Now put $\mathit{x}+\mathit{y}+\mathit{z}=180$ in equation ......(i)
$180+\mathit{p}=269$
$\mathit{p}=269-180=89$
Put y + z + p = 197 in equation ......(i)
$\mathit{x}+197=269$
$\mathit{x}=269-197$
$\mathit{x}=72$
Put $\mathit{x}+\mathit{z}+\mathit{p}=208$ in equation .......(i)
$\mathit{y}+208=269$
$\mathit{y}=269-208$
$\mathit{y}=61$
Put x, y, p in equation .......(i)
$72+61+89+\mathit{z}=269$
$\mathit{z}=269-222$
$\mathit{z}=47$
The largest whole number is 89.
