of the original fraction. What is the numerator of the original fraction?

Solution:

Let the original numerator and denominator be 2x and 3x;
then,

{2x-6}/{3x}=2/3×2/3

⇒{x-3}/x=2/3

⇒3x-9=2x

∴x=9

Hence, required numerator

= 2 × 9 = 18
