When the digits of the two-digits number are interchanged, the number so obtained is less than the original number by 54. If in the original number the digit at the unit's place is one-fourth of the digit at the ten's place. Find the original number?

Validate

Solution:

Let the digits at unit's and ten's place be x and 4x; then

10 × 4x + x - 10x - 4x = 54

⇒ 27x = 54

⇒ x = 2

Hence, required number

= 10 × 4x + x = 41x

= 41 × 2 = 82
