The ratio of two numbers is 6 : 7. If 30% of the first number is 18, what would be 40% of the second number?

Solution:

Let the numbers be 6x and 7x.
Then, 30% of 6x = 18

30/100×6x= 18

x={18×100}/{30×6}

x=10

∴ Second number

= 7x = 7 × 10 = 70

So, 40% of 70

= 40/100×70= 28
