Solution:

Let monthly salary of Mr. Kumar = Rs. x, then
Expenditure on consumable items

=80/100×x=\Rs.{4x}/5

Remaining amount

=x-{4x}/5=\Rs.x/5,

Then

x/5-50/100×x/5=5730/12

⇒x/5-50/100×x/5=5730/12

⇒x/10=477.5

∴x=10×477.5

= Rs. 477.50
Hence, expenditure on clothes and transport

=4775/10

= Rs. 477.50
