Solution:

Number of candidates applied for the job = 855
Per cent of candidates rejected = 80%
Number of rejected candidates

= 855 ×80/100

= 684 candidates
Number of candidates selected for the job = 855 - 684 = 171
∴ 171 candidates are selected for the job.
