Karan, Amar and Rajat started a sweets shop by investing a certain amount. If they had invested the amount for 9 months, 16 months and 4 months respectively, the profit was shared in the ratio 9 : 10 : 8. What was the ratio of their investments?

25 : 8 : 30

30 : 80 : 5

Validate

Solution:

Let their investments be Rs x, Rs y and Rs z respectively.
Then,

{9x}/{16y}=9/10

x/y=9/10×16/9=8/5

And,

{16y}/{4z}=10/8

y/z=10/8×4/16=5/16

Thus, x : y = 8 : 5 and y : z = 5 : 16
∴ x : y : z = 8 : 25 : 80
