Solution:

Let the total profit be Rs x.
Then, B’s share =

2/5x

A’s share

=(x-2/5x)=3/5x

∴ A : B = 3/5x:2/5x=3:2

Now, let the investment of B be Rs y.
Hence,

{12000×9}/{y×3}=3/2

y={24000}
