The LCM of two numbers is 14 times that of the HCF. The sum of LCM and HCF is 1,170. If one number is 156, then the other number will be:

Solution:

Let the HCF = x
then LCM = 14 x
x + 14x = 1,170

x = 1,170/15

x = 78
HCF = 78 and LCM = 78 × 14 = 1,092
156 × other number = 78 × 1,092
