of the other, then find the sum of the numbers.

Solution:

Let the first number be x.
Then, the second number

=x/3

So,

x×x/3=0.0012

x^2=0.0012×3

x=√{36/10000}=6/100=0.06

Second number

= 0.06/3=0.02

Hence the required sum

= 0.06 + 0.02 = 0.08.
