The average weight of a group of 5 students is 45 kg and that of another group of 5 students is 47 kg. If the average weight of the whole class of 30 students is 50 kg, find the average weight of the remaining students.

Validate

Solution:

Total weight of the 1st group = (45 × 5) kg = 225 kg
Total weight of the 2nd group = (47 × 5) kg = 235 kg
Total weight of 30 students = (50 × 30) kg = 1,500 kg
∴ Average weight of the remaining students

={1500-(225+235)}/20

={1500-460}/20

= 52 kg
