The average marks of Ricky in 9 exams are 38.9. If the average of his first four exams is 42, then find the average of the last five exams.

Solution:

Marks obtained by Ricky in 9 examinations = 38.9 × 9 = 350.10
Marks obtained in 4 examinations = 42 × 4 = 168
∴ Required average

={ 350.10 -168}/5 = 36.42
