Solution:

If the winning candidate got 65% votes, then the lossing candidate got 35% votes.
Difference in votes percentage
= (65 – 35)% = 30%
When difference 30% then no of votes = 3645
When difference 100% then no of votes
=

{3645×100}/{30}

= 12150
Hence total no. of votes polled = 12150.
