Solution:

Let the marked price be Rs. x, 100 – 15 = 85
Then, 85% of x = 340
⇒

{85x}/{100}

= 340 ⇒ x=

{340×100}/{85}

= Rs. 400
∴ C.P. =

{100}/(100+\Gain%)

× S.P. =

({100}/{100+{40}/3})

× 340 = Rs. 300
∴ Required gain per cent
=

{40-300}/{30}

× 100 =

{10}/3

{100}/3

= 33
