(a) Let the time taken by bicyclist whose speed is 10 km/h be t h. Speed is inversely proportional to time.
So, bicyclist whose speed is 9 km/h takes more time.
and the distance travelled by both the bicyclists are equal.
Now, 9$\left(\mathit{t}+\frac{32}{100}\right)$ = 10t
⇒ 9t + $\frac{32\times 9}{60}$ = 10t
⇒ t = $\frac{32\times 9}{60}=\frac{24}{5}$ h
∴ Length of the journey = 10 x $\frac{24}{5}$ = 48 km
