The LCM of two numbers is 45 times their HCF. One number is 125 and the sum of their HCF and LCM is 1150. Find the other number.

Validate

Solution:

(d) ∵ HCF + LCM =1150
⇒ HCF + 45 (HCF) = 1150 [∵ LCM = 45 x HCF (given)]
⇒ 46 x HCF = 1150
⇒ HCF = 25
Hence, LCM = 45 x 25 = 1125
We know that, HCF x LCM = 1 st number x 2nd number
⇒ 25 x 1125 = 125 x 2nd number
⇒ 2nd number =

= 225
