In what ratio the mixtures of these two containers should be added together so that the quantity of milk in the new mixture may become 80%?

Solution:

(a) Given, milk in first container =

5/6

and milk in second container =

7/9

∴ Ratio of milk in final mixture =

80/100=4/5

Using the alligation rule,

∴ Required ratio =
