Three numbers A, B and C are in the ratio of 12 : 15 : 25. If sum of these numbers is 312, the ratio between the difference of B and A and the difference of C and B is ______ .

Solution:

(c) Given, A : B : C = 12 : 15 : 25
Let A = 12x, B = 15x, C = 25x
According to the question,
12x + 15x + 25x = 312
⇒ 52x = 312
⇒ x =

312/52

= 6
∴ A = 12x = 72,
B = 15x = 90
and C = 25x = 150
So, required ratio = (B-A) : (C-B)
= (90 - 72) : (150 - 90)
= 18 : 60 = 3 : 10
