(c) Let the total number of votes costed be x
Number of votes one candidate got = 47%
Number of votes another candidate got = 53%
Difference of votes = 540
New, according to the question,
53% Of x - 47% of x = 540
⇒ 6 % of x = 540
∴ x =

{540×100}/6

= 9000
Hence,total number of votes costed were 9000.
