In the following figure, AOB is a straight line, ∠AOR = 3x, ∠ROT = 2x and ∠TOB = x, then find the value of sinx + cos2x = ?

Solution:

Given,
∠AOR = 3x, ∠ROT = 2x and ∠TOB = x,
AOB is a straight line.
Formula:
If AOB is a straight line, then ∠AOB = 180°.
Calculation:
According to the question

3x + 2x + x = 180°

⇒ 6x = 180°

⇒ x = 30°

Now,

\sin x + \cos2x = \sin30° + \cos60° = 1{/}2 + 1{/}2 = 1
