Calculations:
Let incomes 8x and 9x
According to the question,
$\Rightarrow \left(8\mathit{x}\mathit{–}500\right)/\left(9\mathit{x}\mathit{–}1500\right)=7/6$
$\Rightarrow 48\mathit{x}\mathit{–}3000=63\mathit{x}\mathit{–}10500$
$\Rightarrow 15\mathit{x}=7500$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{x}=500$
P’s income $=8\times 500$ = Rs. 4000
Q’s income $=9\times 500$ = Rs. 4500
∴ P and Q’s income is Rs. 4000 and Rs. 4500 respectively.
