Solution:

Match I : Match II = 5 : 4
Match II : Match II = 2 : 1
= 4 : 2
∴ Match I : Match II : Match III = 5 : 4 : 2
Acoording to the question
5x - 2x = 48
⇒ 3x = 48
⇒ x =

{48}/3

= 16
Total runs scored in three matches
= 5x + 4x + 2x = 11x = 11x × 15 = 176
∴ Required average =

= 58
