∴ Number of males = $\frac{60\mathit{x}}{100}$ = $\frac{3\mathit{x}}{5}$
Literate males = $\frac{75}{100}$ × $\frac{3\mathit{x}}{5}$ = $\frac{9\mathit{x}}{20}$
Literate males = $\frac{3\mathit{x}}{5}-\frac{9\mathit{x}}{20}$
= $\frac{12\mathit{x}-9\mathit{x}}{20}$ = $\frac{3\mathit{x}}{20}$
According to the question,
$\frac{3\mathit{x}}{20}$ = 225
⇒ 3x = 225 × 20
⇒ x = $\frac{225\times 20}{3}$ = 1500
Number of females = $\frac{40\times 1500}{100}$ = 600
Illiterate females = $\frac{600\times 30}{100}$ = 180
