Solution:

Effective area in bearing

=[75+2.5

(flange thickness

+

root radius

)] × 8

=[75+2.5(20+10)] × 8

=1200 {mm}^{2}

so, web bearing strength

=A_{g} \;{f_{y}}/{1.1}

=1200 × \;{250}/{1.1} × 10^{-3}

=272.73 {kN}
