A triangle has the sides of length 16,18 and 22 metres. What is its area (in square metres approx.)?

Solution:

The sides of the triangle are 16, 18 and 22 m

∴\;{S}=\;{a+b+c}/{2}

=\;{16+18+22}/{2}=\;{56}/{2}=28 {m}

Area of the triangle

=√{ {S}( {S}-a)( {S}-b)( {S}-c)}

=√{28(28-16)(28-18)(28-22)}

=√{28 × 12 × 10 × 6}

=2 × 2 × 6 × √{35}

=24 × √{35}

= 24 × 6

Approx.

=144\m^2
