The ratio between the length and the perimeter of a rectangular plot is 1:3. What is the ratio between the length and breadth of the plot?

Solution:

Let l be the length and b be the breadth of the rectangle.
Given

\;\;{\;\text"Length"\;}/{\;\text"Perimeter"\;}=\;\;{1}/{3}

⇒3l=2(1+{b})

⇒3l-2l=2{b}⇒l=2{b}

Required ratio

=\;\;{l}/{b}=\;\;{2b}/{b}=2:1
