Five years ago,
Total age of A, B, C and D = 45 × 4 = 180 years
Present total age of A, B, C and D
= 180 + 5 × 4
= 180 + 20 = 200 years
Again, Present total age of A, B, C, D and X
= 5 × 49 years
= 245 years
∴ Present age of X = 245 – 200 = 45 years.
