Irfan goes to a stationery store to buy notebooks. If he buys five or more notebooks,the store offers a fixed percentage discount on each. Irfan calculates that the price, he has to pay for four notebooks would be the same as the price of five notebooks after discounts. How much discount is offered by the store?

Solution:

100/4

= ₹ 25
Price of 5 notebooks = ₹ 25 x 5 = ₹ 125
But after discount the price of 4 notebooks is equalto the price of 5 notebook. So, it should be ₹ 100.
Price of 1 notebook after discount = ₹

100/5

= ₹20
Discount offered on 1 notebook = ₹ 25 - ₹ 20 = ₹5
Required percentage discount =

5/25

× 100% = 20%
