The average age of 4 sisters is 7 years. If we add the age of mother, then the average increases by 6 years. Find the age of the mother.

Solution:

Suppose that the age of mother

=x

Since, the average age of 4 sisters is 7 years.
So, sum of ages of 4 sisters

=7 × 4=28

Now, Average of 4 sisters and mother

=\;{28+x}/{5}=7+6=13

⇒ \;{28+x}/{5}=13 ⇒ 28+x=65

⇒ x=65-28=37
