Bromine is a red liquid element. It is a fairly abundant element but has a rare property it is the only non-metal to exist in liquid form at room temperature. It is toxic. Bromine is used in many areas such as agricultural chemicals, dyestuffs, insecticides, pharmaceuticals and chemical intermediates. Bromine compounds can be used as flame retardants.
