Solution:

x+1/x=5

Squaring we get,

x^2+1/x^2+2=5^2⇒x^2+1/x^2=23

Squaring again we get

x^4+1/x^4+2=(23)^2⇒x^4+1/x^4=529-2

∴x^4+1/x^4=527
