Equation of line in intercept form :$\frac{\mathit{x}}{\mathit{a}}+\frac{\mathit{y}}{\mathit{b}}=1$
∴Equation of straight line with x – and y – intercepts 5 and 12 respectively is$\frac{\mathit{x}}{5}+\frac{\mathit{y}}{12}=1$
$\Rightarrow 12\mathit{x}+5\mathit{y}\mathit{–}60=0$
Length of the perpendicular from the origin (0,0) to this line
$=\frac{60}{\sqrt{{\left(12\right)}^2+{\left(5\right)}^2}}=\frac{60}{13}$
