If a, b, c are integers, is

a+b+c

divisible by 3 ?
I.

a=2b-10

and

c=3b+25

II.

a+b+c

is an odd integer,

if the statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.
if the statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
if both the statements I and II are sufficient to answer the question but neither statement alone is sufficient.
if both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question and additional data is required.

Solution:

Given: a,b,c are integers.
I. Given:

a=2b–10,c=3b+25

a+b+c=(2b-10)+b+(3b+25)

=3b+15=3(b+5)

Since

3(b+5)

is divisible by 3,
(a + b + c) is also divisible by 3.
∴ I alone is sufficient
