. If five boys leave the class and five girls join class, then the ratio becomes

7:5

. The number of boys in that class at the beginning is

Solution:

Let the initial no. of boys and girls be 2x and x respectively.
According to the question,

{2x-5}/{x+5}={7}/{5}

⇒10x-25=7x+35

⇒x={60}/{3}=20

∴\;2x=40
