They realize that the article is difficult to understand and they would require team work to finish the assignment. Albela can read a page in 2 minutes, Bob in 3 minutes, and Chulbul in 4 minutes. If they divide the article into 3 parts so that all three of them spend the equal amount of time on the article, the number of pages that Bob should read is

(a) Let ‘t’ be the total time taken by them to read 78 pages.
Let the speeds with which they read be

\ {1}/{2}, \ {1}/{3}

and

\ {1}/{4}

pages per minutes respectively.
Then,

t \×(\ {1}/{2}+ {1}/{3}+ {1}/{4}\ )=78

t \×(\ {6+4+3}/{12} )=78

t=\ {12 \× 78}{13} \⇒ 72

minutes
Hence, the number of pages that Bob should read

=72 \×{1}/{3}=24

pages.
