‘X’ and ‘Y’ are mirror images of each other. They are aldohexoses too. In ‘X’, –OH of the asymmetric ‘C’ farthestfrom –CHO is on the right, so it is ‘D’-Sugar. ‘Y’ , on the other hand, has –OH on the left. Thus it is a L-sugar.
