We have already calculated the slope of tangent at (0,1), which is 2.
Equation of a line passing through a point (x1,y1) and having slope m, is given as,
(y−y1)=m(x−x1)
Here, point is (0,1) and slope is 2 . So,
⇒(y−1)=2(x−0)
⇒y=2x+1
Equation of tangent is given as y=2x+1
At y=0
0=2x+1
⇒x=−1∕2
Hence, tangent meets x -axis at (−1∕2,0)
