Economist Rebeca Grynspan, who recently became the first women to be appointed as the head of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), hails from Costa Rica. UNCTAD is a permanent intergovernmental body established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1964. Its headquarters are located in Geneva.
